Montana Tactical Firearms Instruction is the premier training center for concealed carry courses in Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley. Founded in 2008 and located just off I-90 in Three Forks, MT, we’re a quick drive from Bozeman. Whether you simply want to become comfortable operating a gun, get your Montana Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones, or even learn advanced handgun skills, carbine, shotgun, or bolt action rifle, MTFI is the obvious choice.

Our instructors come from a variety of backgrounds, including civilian, law enforcement, and military. But this isn’t a “high speed/low drag” military training operation. We specialize in helping people just getting acquainted with firearms become competent shooters, with the right approach to safety and mindset. We provide many classes geared towards women and have women instructors on staff. No one will be yelling at you or trying humiliate you. Our approach emphasizes safety and competence. We maintain a low instructor to student ratio in our classes. Our instructors are teachers, not drill sergeants.

Our training facility is the best in the valley. Our range is just outside the door from our two classrooms and the pro shop. There’s no van ride to a field or public land after a class with no access to restrooms. Our facilities allow us to move between the classroom and the range immediately, to reinforce what you’ve just learned. Plus, we have clean restrooms and a full kitchen for your use.

If you’re already an advanced shooter or want to become one, you can continue your journey to proficiency and mastery through the classes at MTFI. We offer advanced classes taught by specialists in carbines, bolt action rifles, and shotguns, as well as advanced tactical and combat handgun classes. We’re the only facility in the valley that offers Interactive Video Based Judgment Simulator Training. We also offer classes on situational awareness and sexual assault prevention, non-lethal use of force, and even bear awareness and defense for hikers and anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
