In addition to the gun safety aspects, and pistol/revolver components, I was especially interested in the Montana State Law portion. If one is to carry, one needs to be aware of not only the law, but the consequences should one encounter a threat. “The beauty of the course and the way it is taught is the fact of its simplicity. Whether a novice shooter or an experienced marksman, one immediately feels comfortable in the surroundings and the people teaching it. This goes a long way, especially when working on self defense tactics and high stress scenarios, where you have to be in close proximity to someone else. This can be somewhat of a challenge to overcome, but the literal “hands-on” approach helps to drive the point home. Coming into the class, having been around firearms and comfortable with them, I felt that it could go either way on what I would learn. I wasn't prepared to have my confidence and skill level bolstered in such a way, as it was. Instead of being “in my face” and shouting at me, the staff was more intent on praising what you did right, with positive comments on how to better your abilities. While I realize that I have much to work on, it’s a great fact to know that I have an instructor that I may count on for reliable information and also who is willing to take feedback and put it into building a better course. MTFI is a solid and reliable group that, with its history rooted in law enforcement, will have, I do not doubt, a great hand in shaping the way that shooters are taught in this great state!” Patrick H. – Bozeman, MT
